The Firm: Total Body Toner
Reviews from VideoFitness
This was a good solid workout. Lots of 4 limb movements and she always tells you if you should use light, medium, or heavy weights. There are 2 very short cardio bursts in the workout and she always shows you the low impact version.
This is an intermediate workout, I'd say. Something perfect for a day you want a good workout without killing yourself.
Allie always tells you if you should be using light, medium, or heavy weights and always shows the modification (and you can follow Emily). Gives lots of form pointers but isn't annoying.
This is a 40 minute mostly strength workout led by Allie with 4 b/g exercisers in the set w/ the hardwood floors, white walls, and windows. Alison shows beginner modifications. You will need a variety of dumbbells for this workout.
Allie does a good job of hitting all the muscle groups with a lot of multi-limb exercises, though not all are multi muscle. When she does combine exercises she does so well, and the poundage worked well for all the moves involved in most cases.
She will typically introduce a lower body move, then add an UB move, and possilby another LB move to keep things interesting and challenging. There are 2 sets of plyo type cardio exercises, but the bulk of this w/o is strength- much of it got my HR up nicely.
Some of the exercises include: lunge with bicep curl & rear leg lift, side lunge with a row and a knee lift, deadlift, overhead tricep extension, planks, pushup w/ an arm tap, and she concludes with a nice ab/ core routine.
I really like this workout and they time seemed to fly by for me. I would rate this a solid intermediate workout that could be easily modified up or down. Many of the exercises got my heartrate up nicely and Im sure I burnt a good amount of calories. Allie does have some babytalk moments but its bearable.
I was surprised that there were no reviews for this little gem of a workout! Led by Allie, this 40 minute strength workout has a little bit everything.
Lots of compound work, a smidge of 4 limbed aerobics and good all-around strength work really makes the workout go by fast! There are 2 very short cardio segments at the end of 2 of the sections to get the heart rate pumping for the next section (1st one is power jumps, 2nd one is power lunges…both can be modified, as shown by Emily).
All muscle groups are worked well, with the possible exception of chest…although 2 sets of pushups, lots of standing chest “scoops”, and a supine ab segment “punching” the weights up might be considered sufficient. I ended up throwing in some chest flys near the end.
Good ab work, 2 sets of bridgework and a short stretch completed the workout.
I used 3/5/8 pound dumbbells…think I can go to 4/5/8 next time.
A very enjoyable strength workout that covered all the bases in 40 minutes!
Allie was fun to work out with and her cueing was impeccable, as usual.
