As a previous instructor myself with a YMCA back in the '80's, I also taught an aerobic dance class and this tape brought back many fond memories. I guess that's one of the reasons I was determined to learn the routines on this tape.
I thought the music was great and the routines were fun; however, this tape was only 30 minutes long and I was very frustrated by the fast pace and the inability to have the time to learn each routine more thoroughly. That's why I found myself repeatedly rewinding the tape to get each routine down right.
This tape is definitely for the advanced aerobic dance individuals out there who are accustom to quick change dance steps with limited cues.
However, if you are an aerobic dance fan like myself and you are getting back in shape, this tape can give you a pretty good workout during the time you are learning the routines. I myself believe once I can sustain the intensity levels this tape provides, I will get a good aerobic workout for 30 minutes.
By the way, this tape cost me under $10, so it was worth the investment.
As an instructor, Michelle did not spend too much time teaching the dance steps and her limited cueing techniques confused me enough that I had to rewind the tape repeatedly just to learn certain dance steps; however, her routines were fun and she was very upbeat.
This was another bad choice. There are 3 idiots jumping around asking each other, "Do you like it? Doesn't that feel good?" My boyfriend liked the video :o) I watched it before trying it out and hated it at first site. I thought I would give it a fair try, but quit after about 7 minutes. I couldn't concentrate on the workout. I was obsessed with wanting to slap all three of the instructers. Oh, well. Live and learn.
This is a 30-minute dancy high/low workout at an intermediate intensity. The music is outstanding! Unfortunately, the instruction leaves a lot to be desired.
I have Michelle's Step & Sweat tape, and I thought she was difficult to follow on it. But I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt since she's so likeable and her routines were fun. However, I now have to admit that she's just not very good at teaching moves. Her cueing and execution are great, but she doesn't break down anything very much. Since this is a dancier tape, it was frustrating for me to try to follow her without more instruction.
The music gets an A, but the workout gets a B-.
