Les Mills Combat - Kickstart 30
Reviews from VideoFitness
This is one of the workouts from the set Beachbody released a few years ago. As with any Les Mills workout the music is recognizable with lyrics. This is something that really can make a workout fun for me, especially when the choreography is set up to work with the lyrics and/or beat. I really love that, and this one had it. It's led by two instructors who trade off sections Rach and Dan, they have a variety of background exercisers and one of them is the modifier. There isn't a ton to modify in this one though, swapping jump kicks for step kicks and remaining stationary where others are moving, keeping kicks lower, that's about it. I felt that this moved a little more slowly than I wanted to. I found myself ahead of the moves (which is unheard of, behind yes, ahead no) because I was unintentionally speeding them up. Perhaps with the music louder option I would have been keeping better time. I suspect this one is meant to be the beginnerish of the set, get you used to the moves and then pick up the pace later on in the rotation. I don't remember the others in the set feeling slow but it has admittedly been awhile since I'd done any of them.
Dan and Rach are chipper and upbeat with an Australian (New Zeland?)accent. They often sing along with the music and Dan mugs for the camera a lot. They can be corny too, but I think that makes them likeable. Favorite quote: If you have no guard, you are unarmed (about keeping guard up throughout moves).
